Albania, among 5 countries contributing troops to the international force in

US Army Major General Jasper Jeffers confirmed today at the first meeting of the Peace Board that Albania is among five countries that have already committed troops to an international force that is supposed to be deployed in Gaza as part of the 20-point ceasefire agreement brokered by the US.

In addition to Albania, Indonesia, Morocco, Kazakhstan and Kosovo have also committed troops to participate in the International Stabilization Force (ISF). Training for the ISF and a Palestinian police force would take place in Egypt and Jordan.

Jeffers did not provide details on how many troops each country has committed or how quickly they will deploy, but he said the ISF will ultimately have a total of 20,000 soldiers working with 12,000 Palestinian police.

The plan calls for the ISF to be deployed in five different sectors in Gaza. But in the short term, the force will first be deployed in Rafah in southern Gaza, where the first rebuilt neighborhood is supposed to take shape./ CNA
