Russia has repelled Ukrainian drone attacks

The Russian Defense Ministry said on February 1 that its air defenses shot down 11 Ukrainian drones over Russian territory overnight.

"Overnight, an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist drone strike against targets on Russian territory was foiled," the ministry said in a statement.

"Air defense intercepted and destroyed drones over Belgorod region [four drones] and Kursk [one drone]," the statement added.

Another four drones were later shot down in the Belgorod region and two more in the Voronezh region, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

Ukraine has been under constant Russian airstrikes for almost two years and is constantly asking its Western allies to help strengthen its defense systems. Thousands of people are estimated to have been killed during the Russian bombings.

In recent months, Ukraine has intensified drone attacks on Russian territory, mainly targeting border regions, but also the Russian capital, Moscow, and the northern city of St. Petersburg.

The deadliest drone attack was on December 30, 2023 in the Russian city of Belgorod, when 25 people were killed, nearly 100 were injured and hundreds more were evacuated./ Rel
