Putin calls Pezeshkian: Ready to mediate the Middle East conflict

Russian President Vladimir Putin told his Iranian counterpart Massoud Pezheskian today that he is ready to participate in mediation in the Middle East conflict.

As announced by the official Kremlin, during a telephone conversation with Pezheskian, Putin stressed that he is ready to continue facilitating the search for a political and diplomatic solution to the conflict and to act as a mediator in efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.

Pezeshkian praised the Iran-US talks held in Islamabad on Saturday. He also expressed appreciation for Russia's principled stance to reduce regional tensions and for its humanitarian assistance to the Iranian people.

The two leaders also discussed bilateral cooperation and confirmed their commitment to further strengthen bilateral ties, the Kremlin added./ CNA
