Albanians should be banned from seeking asylum in Great Britain, as they come from a "demonstrably safe" country.

This is what the Minister of Immigration, Robert Jenrick, said. Jenrick has stated that such individuals should be "excluded from the right to seek asylum" as he warned that current levels of migration to the UK were "unsustainable".

His comments came after the Home Office declined to comment on a report in The Sunday Times that ministers are working on legislation that could stop asylum seekers who enter the UK illegally settling in the UK.

Home Secretary Suella Braverman was reported to be urging Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to back plans to stop any illegal migrants arriving in the UK. The government is under great pressure from conservative MPs to deal with the issue of human traffickers who use dinghies to transport migrants across the Channel./ CNA.al
