Merz meeting with Trump at the White House/ Date revealed

Germany's new Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, will meet with US President Donald Trump at the White House on Thursday, June 5, German Government spokesman Stefan Kornelius announced.

Cornelius said on May 31 that the two leaders are scheduled to hold a meeting at the White House, followed by a joint lunch and then a press conference.

The talks in Washington are expected to focus on efforts to end the war in Ukraine, NATO's response to growing external threats. The leaders are also expected to discuss trade disputes between the United States and the European Union.

This will be the first meeting between the two leaders since Merz took office as chancellor on May 6. Before Merz took office, he had met Trump many years ago in New York.

Merz will depart for Washington on Wednesday, after a dinner with the prime ministers of Germany's 16 states in Berlin, Cornelius said.

President Trump will host the German Chancellor at his guest house, Blair House, located near the White House. Cornelius said that hosting Merz at this location is a special honor./ Rel
