Plane crashes into apartment, two people die

A small plane crashed into a residential building in Germany, killing two people, including the pilot.

According to BILD, the 71-year-old pilot reported engine problems during the flight. He then crashed.

The plane reportedly crashed into the terrace of a house in Korschenbroich in North Rhine-Westphalia. Photos from the crash site also show severe damage to the house.

A neighbor reports the dramatic scenes to BILD.

"We heard a very loud noise and then immediately saw the cloud of smoke. We ran to the house to help. The man who lived in the house apparently saw the plane coming and managed to jump to the side. But the woman is dead," the resident said.

According to BILD, the plane was trying to land in Mönchengladbach. Numerous police, fire and rescue services are at the scene.
