With banners in their hands/ Thousands of Israeli protesters gather in front of Netanyahu's hotel in New York

Pro-Palestinian activists, including members of the Jewish community in New York, demonstrated outside the hotel where Israeli leader Netanyahu is staying.

Upon arriving in New York, the Israeli prime minister entered "hostile" territory, not only in Manhattan, where protesters have taken to the streets in solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza, but as never before in the heart of the UN, where dozens of world leaders have criticized Israel and called for an end to the war in Gaza.

Demonstrators gathered holding banners that read: "Save Israel from Netanyahu," "Stop the war," and "Free everyone."

They chanted: "Bring them home" and "There is no military solution," to the sound of drums.

Netanyahu will speak at the UN today as the genocide in Gaza continues. Canada, Portugal, Australia and the UK have already recognized a Palestinian state, and this has caused controversy./CNA
