Greenland Prime Minister: We are forced to find a solution with the US

Greenland's leaders are forced to find a solution to their dispute with the United States. This was stated today by Greenland's Prime Minister, Jens Frederik Nielsen, emphasizing that the autonomous Danish territory is open to American investment.

"Although the will of a leader to secure control of Greenland is completely disrespectful, we are forced to find a solution ," Jens Frederik Nielsen said.

The Prime Minister made these statements during a press conference as part of the "Greenland of the Future" economic conference, which was also attended by Donald Trump's envoy for Greenland, Jeffrey Landry.

Landry met with Nielsen and the Arctic island's head of diplomacy, Mute Egende, on Monday, an opportunity for Greenlanders to remind themselves that they are not for sale but remain open to cooperation.

"The views are more skeptical. But overall, from a commercial perspective, we had absolutely no intention of excluding American investment. There are very different perceptions over there in the US about what this working group is, from our side, it's very clear. The three countries between us, we decided, in the meeting with our former foreign minister, the Danish foreign minister, their vice president and their foreign minister, that we should engage in this constructive dialogue, instead of constantly threatening each other through the press ," Nielsen said.   /CNA
