Compliments to EU leaders/ Trump: I expect Putin to release 1,000 Ukrainian

US President Donald Trump held a conference call today with EU leaders who arrived at the White House this Monday, ahead of his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

In his speech, Trump offered compliments to every European leader present:

"NATO chief Rutte is an excellent gentleman who is doing a fantastic job.

The British Prime Minister is my friend and people like him very much.

Macron of France is a dignitary, I've loved him since day one and I like him even more now.

Italy's Meloni is an inspiration and a great leader.

"The President of Finland looks better than I've ever seen him and he's someone we all respect," Trump said.

Among other things, Trump said he expected Putin to release over 1,000 Ukrainian prisoners immediately after a trilateral meeting with Ukrainian leader Zelenskyy.

"I think you'll see that President Putin would really like to do something as well. I know there are over 1,000 prisoners and I know they're going to release them. They're probably going to release them very quickly, immediately, which I think is very good," Trump said./CNA
