Full verdict on the constitution/ Court of Kosovo: Session to be concluded

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo has published today the full judgment on the constitution of the Assembly. 

As in the decision of August 8, the Constitutional Court requires deputies to elect the Speaker and Deputy Speakers of the Assembly within a period of 30 days, which means that deputies can gather as of today (August 18) to constitute the Assembly.

"To order, with 6 (six) votes in favor and 1 (one) against, the Chairperson of the Constituent Session of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo to proceed with item 3 of the agenda of the Constituent Session, approved on 8 April 2025, and in accordance with paragraph 2 of Article 67 [Election of the President and Vice-Presidents] of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo, to invite the representative of the largest parliamentary group to propose the candidate for President of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, who shall be elected through open voting, the voting of which may be carried out only up to 3 (three) times for the same candidate," the court's announcement states.

The decision obliges all elected deputies to be present and vote during the election of the new president and vice presidents of the Assembly of Kosovo.

The decision comes after 54 failed attempts at constitution and the expiration of the 30-day deadline set by the same court in June. /CNA
