The new regulation issued by the Greek authorities, which has been sent to all border points, prohibits the crossing of the border for immigrants who only have a certificate proving that they are waiting for a residence permit.

According to the Greek government, after March 30, 2024, it is only possible to travel to Albania with a certificate. The same applies to all those immigrants who are outside Greece. They must return by March 30, otherwise they will not be allowed to enter Greece.

The announcement was shared on social networks by the Albanian Community in Greece. 

"All immigrants living in Greece and waiting for a residence permit can travel to their countries only with a residence permit. If you are waiting for a residence permit and have the confirmation in hand, you cannot travel to your country after March 30, 2024. Don't make the mistake of traveling, because entry will not be allowed. The same applies to everyone who is outside Greece today. They must be back by March 30, otherwise entry will not be allowed. This is what the new circular that has been sent to all border points says. The airport police told me that they expect changes, but we don't know if there will be changes and how they will work. For now, be careful," the announcement states. 

It is reported in the media that such a decision is expected to be withdrawn before March 25, as a circular canceling this regulation is ready in the Ministry of Immigration . /CNA
