Eurovision 2016 winner Jamala, a Ukrainian of Crimean Tatar origin, was placed on the list of wanted persons of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, reports Politiko.
Susana Jamaladinova, known as Jamala, is accused of discrediting and spreading disinformation about the Russian military, which is why a warrant was issued for her in absentia in November, Tas and Ria report.
The Ukrainian won the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "1944", which is about the deportation and ethnic cleansing of the Crimean Tatars by the Soviets, and has since publicly criticized the Russian occupation of Crimea, as well as the occupation of Ukraine.
Russian media then called the song anti-Russian.
So, recently, Jamala spread the anti-war message across Europe and raised funds to help the Ukrainian people.
She also sang in a concert organized by the British television network ITV with Ed Sheeran and Ann Marie, which raised over 13 million pounds to help her country, and performed at the Eurovision show, which was held in Britain Great this year./ CNA
