Denmark increases military cooperation with the US

Denmark has said it has agreed to increase its military cooperation with the US, reports AFP.

"We are now strengthening our bilateral defense cooperation and we do not want to hide the fact that the agreement with the US also marks a breakthrough in Danish defense policy, as it involves American soldiers and American material on Danish soil," a> said the Prime Minister of Denmark, said Mette Frederiksen at a press conference.

The Defense Cooperation Agreement will allow US personnel and material to be stationed at "specific short- and long-term Danish military installations," the Danish defense ministry said.

According to the ministry, it will give the US access to three Danish air bases in Karup, Skrydstrup and Aalborg.

Similarly, the US and Finland have signed a defense pact, allowing rapid military access and aid to Finland, which shares a 1,340 km border with Russia./ CNA
