"SOS" alarm on Greek coast reveals large quantities of drugs/ Albanian arrested, found inside almost sunken ship

A half-sunken ship has been found by the Port Authorities of Igoumenitsa and Corfu in the maritime area of ??Prasoudi Island, following an "SOS" alert.

On board the ship was a 50-year-old Albanian man with the initials EM, who was rescued and transported to the Port of Igoumenitsa and then to Filati Hospital for medical assistance. Meanwhile, it is reported that a lawsuit has been filed against him for causing the ship to sink and illegal entry into the country.

Authorities have returned to the location where the ship was found and during the operation to tow the vessel, they were faced with an unexpected discovery, as there was a large amount of narcotics hidden inside the vessel.

The drugs were seized and are being transported by port authority ships to the Port of Igoumenitsa, while the Igoumenitsa Port Authority is conducting a preliminary investigation to clarify the incident and the route of the cargo, which is suspected to have been sent from Albania to Greek territory. /CNA
