Powerful earthquake in Taiwan/ 4 victims, dozens injured

An earthquake struck the east coast of Taiwan. According to the seismological site EMSC, the magnitude was 7.4 on the Richter scale.

The epicenter is about 18 kilometers south of the resort town of Hualien.

So far, 4 deaths have been confirmed in Taiwan and 57 people injured. Also, it is reported that 26 buildings have collapsed in the country due to the powerful tremors.

The earthquake was accompanied by several strong aftershocks, with a magnitude of up to 6.4 on the Richter scale.

The 7.4-magnitude earthquake is considered the largest to hit Taiwan in the last 25 years./ CNA
