Blinken calls for full investigation into Israeli attack that killed aid workers

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed that the United States had spoken to Israel about the attack that killed at least seven World Kitchen Central aid workers in Gaza and called for "a prompt, thorough and impartial investigation".

"As we have done throughout this conflict, we have stressed to the Israelis the absolute importance of doing more to protect the lives of innocent civilians – whether they are children, Palestinian women and men, whether they are aid workers – and to receive more humanitarian aid," Blinken said at a press conference with French Foreign Minister Stéphane Séjourné in Paris.

Blinken also expressed condolences to "the loved ones, families, friends, colleagues of those who lost their lives, as well as those who were injured."

He praised the work of the non-profit organization and the founder of its famous boss José Andrés.

"They have done incredibly brave, day-in and day-out critical work to ensure that people in need get what they need, starting with the most basic thing - food," Blinken said.

Séjourné condemned the strike, stressing that the protection of humanitarian personnel is "a moral and legal imperative that everyone must adhere to."/ CNA
