Wage growth/ INSTAT Report: Financial and insurance activities lead

The payments sector has experienced significant growth during 2025, compared to the previous year. The average gross salary per employee reached 86,984 lekë, marking an increase of 4.3% compared to the same period in 2024.

According to INSTAT, the sectors with the highest salaries continue to be financial and insurance activities 173,283. As well as the information and communication sector 131,165 lek.

By profession, the highest increase was recorded in the Armed Forces with 10.6%. There was also a change in salaries in the rest of the administration, increasing the salaries of specialists, white-collar workers and teachers.

In the fourth quarter of 2025, the labor force participation rate for the population aged 15-64 reached 75.9%. Compared to the fourth quarter of 2024, this indicator has increased by 0.4 percentage points.

But on the other hand, compared to the previous quarter, this indicator has decreased by 0.6 percentage points, and this is because our country is characterized by a cyclical economy, where the summer season not only increases the number of employees but also revenues in the state budget.

While in agriculture, the number of employees during 2025 suffered a decrease of -9.7%. The same trend is also seen in the number of employees in industry, marking a negative balance of -0.7%.

The increase in salaries does not entice Albanians to work in the hospitality and tourism businesses, which is why many of these businesses have found staff from third countries. /CNA
