The average salary in the country reached almost 84 thousand lek in 2025, according to data published by INSTAT, up from 77.4 thousand lek in 2024.
Compared to 2024, the salary has increased by 8.4%. Compared to the previous year, when salaries were 10% higher, the growth has slowed down.
According to the INSTAT report, in the fourth quarter of 2025, the average gross monthly salary for a salaried employee in Albania was 86,984 lek.
Compared to the fourth quarter of 2024, the average gross monthly salary has increased by 4.3%.
Compared to the third quarter of 2025, the average gross monthly salary has increased by 4.4%.
Wages by economic activity
Economic activities with an average wage higher than the national average were:
-Financial and Insurance Activities, with an average salary of 173,283;
-Information and communication, with an average salary of 131,165;
Annual change in salary by economic activity:
-The largest salary increase was in the Information and Communication activity, with an increase of 7.9%.
-The smallest increase was in the activity Arts, entertainment and recreation; Other service activities, of 2.2%.
Salaries by profession
The professions with an average salary higher than the national average were:
-Managers, Legislators, Executive Directors, with an average salary of 135,223
-Specialists with higher education (professionals), with an average salary of 115,228
Annual salary change by profession:
-The largest salary increase was in the Armed Forces professions of 10.6%, followed by Civil Servants of 6.2%.
-The smallest increase was in the profession of Managers, Legislators, Senior Civil Servants of State Administration and Executive Directors of 3.3%.
Distribution of employees by salary level
In the fourth quarter of 2025, compared to the fourth quarter of 2024, a shift in the distribution of employees towards higher salaries is observed. The share of the group with salaries over 120 thousand lekë increased from 14.1% to 16.2%, while that of the interval 95,001–120,000 lekë from 12.8% to 13.2%.
Meanwhile, the share of employees earning up to the minimum wage fell from 14.2% to 12.8%.
Compared to the third quarter of 2025, the main increase is again observed in the group over 120 thousand lekë (from 14.2% to 16.2%), while the intervals 40,001–95,000 lekë marked a slight decrease. Overall, the distribution in Q4 2025 appears more concentrated at the highest salary levels./ Monitor
