Scandal/Smuggled cosmetic products out of control, danger to citizens

CNA has denounced the case of contraband goods where it reported on July 21, 2024 that the police had launched an action, where they had discovered about 3 thousand contraband products in the entity "Global Cosmetics & Distribution".

The police seized significant amounts of shampoos, creams or hair dyes and announced two persons wanted, the administrator of the company "Global Cosmetics & Distribution", Tea Karanxha and Ergys Mezini.

Apart from a criminal offense, it is a problem that CNA has denounced in many cases.

The issue is not about smuggling, but about fraud and the danger that threatens Albanian citizens from smuggled products, as they may be out of date or with forged codes.

We must clarify that these contraband products may be original, obtained from certified companies, but they may have been purchased outside of their use-by dates and therefore pose a risk to consumers.

The fact that it happens is very disturbing since Albanian smugglers take expired or uncertified products, change the codes or dates and serve them to Albanian citizens as quality products.

They buy the cosmetic products at low prices abroad, on the verge of expiration and then put them on the market, even though they are outside of any guarantee or safety standards.

The case of smuggling and trading of cosmetic products is flagrant and the institutions should immediately intervene, verify and control these products, as all the consequences fall on the backs of the citizens, on their pockets and most importantly on their health, from frauds of various cosmetic companies.
