The 12-year-old leaves home and takes drugs, experts: Re-education schools

The show "Stop" this Monday dealt with the serious case of a 12-year-old who leaves home and takes drugs. He abandoned his home, school and rehabilitation centers by taking drugs on the streets.

The Child Protection worker in Unit Number 3, Denisa Babasula, says that all efforts have been made to systematize him.

But according to Babasula, no institution is isolating and the minor leaves.

"The child proved to us that he could be a possible victim of trafficking and has been referred to a "shelter" to receive services. We must emphasize something. In all institutions where children are placed, they are open institutions, so that children are not kept isolated from the rest of society. Although the child may go to the institution, the child will go outside the institution to attend school. It will go out for different activities and from all the dynamics that the case has shown so far, we have seen that in every institution that we have referred the case has managed to get away from us", she said.

The expert on social issues, Majlinda Keta, says that under these conditions, re-education schools should be restored or named differently, but be for this category of children.

"We urgently need to return to re-education schools. We will expect these forms of unmanageability. A school of re-education would be a station towards the end, but I am rather that another school, of social service, of moral and social justice of the Albanian state can be offered for these children. Morally, we should not make that parent believe until the end that he has failed with his child, but give him the strength to re-parent in a different way, assisted by the state, and above all, that the children are created the conditions under the management of state institutions, which would perhaps lead to another possibility of earning this child to return him to the mandatory age of 9-year education in the school banks", said Keta./ tvklan
