Criminal expert Ervin Karamuço has shared details related to the case of the murder of the Italian businessman in the place called "Dilan" in the village of Salari, Tepelena. 

In an interview with Euronews Albania, Karamuço said that the perpetrator was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and reacted with swearing.

Karamuço revealed that a phone call was also made to a family member of a former Minister of Defense regarding the incident.

"The vehicles of the victim's group were equipped with night searchlights as they are used for hunting. At the time of the exchange, the perpetrator is suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and reacted with swearing. After a verbal altercation, he reversed the car, overtook the group and blocked their path. The perpetrator then got out of the vehicle, armed with a shotgun with binoculars.

I can't say it was a sniper, but a sporting hunting rifle. He began to insult and threaten the people who were with the Italian businessman, and even declared: "You don't know who I am, I'm so-and-so." However, according to initial police testimony, no one in the group knew or remembered the name mentioned. After the argument degenerated into a physical altercation, the perpetrator opened fire, shooting in an uncontrolled manner, without targeting any specific person. One of the bullets hit the Italian citizen in the leg, damaging his femoral aorta - a wound that led to his death.

"The people who were with the victim did not leave the scene, but attempted to provide first aid. A cloth and a belt placed to stop the bleeding were found at the scene. They also called a family member of a former Interior Minister to request the help of a helicopter, but the victim died before medical assistance arrived," Karamuço said. /CNA
