The Constitutional Court has selected Judge Sonila Bejtjan as the rapporteur for the review of Erion Veliaj's appeal for his dismissal from office.

In his appeal, Veliaj considers his dismissal illegal and contrary to the Constitution.

We recall that Veliaj was dismissed on September 25 by decision of the Council of Ministers.

In accordance with Article 100 of the Constitution and letter 'c' of Article 62 of Law No. 139/2015, 'On Local Self-Government', as amended, upon the proposal of the Minister of State for Local Government, the Council of Ministers

DECIDED:

Mr. Erion Veliaj, Mayor of Tirana Municipality, is dismissed from this position, upon the proposal of the Tirana Municipal Council, approved by decision no. 69, dated 23.9.2025.

This decision enters into force upon publication in the 'Official Gazette./ CNA
