For the third consecutive year, the “Bulgarian Memory” Foundation and its president Dr. Milen Vrabevski organized and financed free medical visits for residents of the Municipality of Pustec in Albania.
The examinations, which are being conducted by a team of Bulgarian doctors in the fields of cardiology, internal medicine, endocrinology, dermatology and rheumatology, will end on September 28 and aim to examine all interested parties.
This year too, the visits are being carried out at the request of the mayor, Mr. Pali Kolefski, whose goal is to provide access to specialized medical care in his region.
"I thank the foundation and personally Dr. Vrabevski for the examinations. This is another useful and important initiative of theirs for the residents of Pustec."
Due to the great interest and growing need for such initiatives, the Bulgarian Memory Foundation is planning another visit at the end of October. Then another team will include doctors from neurology, ENT, ophthalmology, urology, and mammology.
"Through this initiative, we are setting another good example of European solidarity. We do everything with an open heart. We are happy that this year the team of specialists was joined by young people of Albanian origin who graduated in medicine in Bulgaria. In this way, we demonstrate continuity between generations and the benefit of cooperation with Bulgaria."
The examinations are carried out by doctors from renowned Bulgarian hospitals and centers: University Hospital “St. Ivan Rilski” (Sofia), University Hospital “St. Georgi” (Plovdiv), Heidelberg Medical Center and Reverse Dermatology. The opening of the campaign was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of Albania, H.E. Ivaylo Kirov.
"I thank Dr. Vrabevski for focusing his attention on the development of the municipality of Pustec, but especially for the efforts of his foundation in improving the quality of life of all residents of the region."
Specialized examinations are more beneficial for elderly residents and are not only a gesture of empathy, but also a real help.
"It is a joy for us to be able to be visited by Bulgarian doctors. Their presence here is a symbol of support that we will remember for a long time."
The initiative is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Albania and in cooperation with two Bulgarian ministries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense, which provided the transportation of doctors with the military aircraft “Spartan”. Medical equipment was provided by the Bulgarian company “Infinita”. The next edition of free preventive examinations in Pustec is just one of the regular initiatives of the Bulgarian Memory Foundation in the region, which aim to increase the quality of life of the locals.
In recent years, the Bulgarian foundation has implemented a large number of projects with a concrete impact on the local population. Among them, we can mention the provision of an ambulance, a fire truck and an off-road vehicle for the needs of the municipality, professional medical equipment for the Pustec Health Center, and a mobile building (container type) with professional medical equipment for one of the villages of the municipality.
With the help of the “Bulgarian Memory”, the water supply network was repaired and 24-hour water supply was ensured in some of the settlements in the region. The Pustec Municipality building was equipped with furniture and computers for 44 workplaces. Less than a month ago, urban lighting was provided in four villages, Zaroshke, Gollomboc, Gorica e Madhe and Gorica e Vogel, etc. With all donations to date, the Bulgarian Memory Foundation is the largest foreign investor in the region./ CNA
