Investment Climate/DASH Report: Albania's Legal Framework Complies with

The US Department of State's report on the investment climate in Albania states that the legal framework in our country complies with international standards and does not discriminate against foreign investors.

The report also says that despite changes made to the law in 2015, it did not bring much foreign investment. The State Department says that more than 60 approved projects focus on tourism and are dominated by domestic investors.

“Albania’s legal framework complies with international standards in protecting and encouraging foreign investment and does not discriminate against foreign investors. The Law on Strategic Investments, adopted in 2015 to promote domestic and foreign investment in strategic sectors, did not attract much foreign investment despite multiple extensions beyond its initial deadline of December 2018. The latest amendment was adopted in January 2025, extending its deadline until December 2026. Most of the more than 60 approved projects focus on the tourism sector and are dominated by domestic investors,” the report quotes./ CNA
