The Swedish Embassy in Tirana has reacted to today's vote in the Assembly, where SPAK's request to lift the immunity of MP Belinda Balluku was rejected.

In their post, the Swedish embassy states that it supports Albania's integration into the EU, while adding that a key requirement for progress in this process is the effective prosecution of corruption, including at the highest levels.

They further state that they expect that the justice system will be able to proceed without hindrance and that the Albanian political leadership is responsible for ensuring this process.

Sweden supports Albania's integration into the European Union, in line with the wishes of the Albanian people. A key requirement for progress in this merit-based process is the effective prosecution of corruption, including at the highest levels.
