Rinas International Airport is completing the expansion of its passenger terminal, adding 6 new gates, bringing the total number to 20 from the current 14. This significant investment by the Kastrati Group, with an approximately 50% increase in flight gates, is a crucial step towards improving service and increasing efficiency for passengers flying through this airport.
The works phase is now nearing completion, as can be seen from the images provided by CNA, with the reconstruction of the terminal, the installation of the new facade, information boards and the modern ventilation system already completed. It is anticipated that in the coming days, these investments will be fully functional, offering a more comfortable experience, shorter waiting times and greater capacity for flights to and from Rinas.

This expansion comes at a time when passenger traffic at TIA is steadily increasing, reflecting the development of the tourism industry and the increasing demand for air travel. During 2025, the airport handled a total of 11.6 million passengers, an increase of 8.7% compared to 2024.
This is a historic record and a higher figure than any other airport in the region, indicating not only an increase in traffic, but also the positioning of TIA as a key air traffic hub in the Western Balkans. Also last year, 15 new destinations were added to TIA.
The figures continue to be high for this year as well. In January 2026, TIA welcomed 12% or 12,529 more passengers compared to the previous year. In January 2025, Rinas Airport welcomed 699,501 passengers, while in January 2026, the number of passengers was 712,030.

This development marks a significant transformation for Rinas, from a traditional national airport to a strong hub of air connections, with an expanded network of destinations and routes, offering direct connections to numerous European destinations and beyond. The continuous growth of traffic and the expansion of passenger services position TIA not only as a gateway to Albania, but also as an airport with a sustainable impact on the economic and tourist development of the country.
With these investments, TIA is positioning itself not only as a model of success for modern air infrastructure, offering high service standards and a better experience for travelers, ahead of the summer season with expectations for a large influx of tourists./CNA
