Territorial Reform/ Disagreement, clash between SP-PD

The majority and the opposition have expressed opposing positions regarding the progress of the Administrative Reform during the meeting of the Special Parliamentary Committee.

The debate focused on the development of hearings and the deadlines for completing the reform, which is intended to be finalized within July.

Mazniku stated that there is no obstacle to immediately starting the public hearings, emphasizing that the process is being delayed without reason.

"Nothing is stopping us from starting the hearings. Instead of having a concrete agenda, we are only seeing postponements," Mazniku said.

Meanwhile, Luciano Boçi requested more time for consultations, emphasizing that communities must be heard before a final decision is made on territorial reform.

"We need to have an agenda and meetings without time pressure. We need to be honest with the communities and listen to their opinions," Boçi said.

Territorial Reform has long been one of the issues that has created political tension in the country. The Socialist Party has proposed reducing the number of municipalities, while the Democratic Party has called for their increase./ CNA
