Attempted murder, illegal possession of weapons and other serious offenses /

SPAK has completed the investigations and sent group members Bajri and Aleksandër Prendin for trial.

SPAK announces that the defendants in this criminal proceeding are the citizens: Aleksandër Prendi, Franko Leka, Izmir Sakicaj and Samuel Troshani.

The investigations conducted show that Izmir Sakicaj, Samuel Troshani and Franko Leka are suspected of being part of a criminal group, involved in criminal activities, such as: committing violent criminal offenses, attempted murder, possession and use of firearms, and obtaining income without legal origin.

SPAK informs that Izmir Sakicaj and Samuel Troshani have been previously involved in criminal events for acts against life, order and public safety.

The incident occurred on 23.8.2024, at around 17:00 in the afternoon, when the defendants, together with other persons still unidentified by the investigation, set off in three armored vehicles from the Dobraç area towards the village of Rranxë (administrative unit, Bushat, Municipality of Vau i Dejës), where the apartment of citizen Aleksandër Prendi was located. The motive is believed to be related to previous disputes.

Investigations prove that the persons involved were armed and acted in an organized manner with the aim of physically eliminating the citizen, Aleksandër Prendi. There was an exchange of fire between them, but no persons were injured in this incident, but only material damage was found to the vehicles used by the defendants.

The Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime has completed the investigations and sent for trial four persons accused of participation in a structured criminal group, attempted murder, illegal possession of weapons and other serious offenses. Criminal proceeding file no. 220 of 2024 has been sent to the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime.

The defendants in this criminal proceeding are the citizens: Aleksandër Prendi, Franko Leka, Izmir Sakicaj and Samuel Troshani.

Aleksandër Prendi accused of committing the criminal offenses of "Murder in other qualifying circumstances" against two or more persons, attempted, provided for by articles 79/dh and 22 of the Criminal Code to the detriment of citizens, Izmir Sakica, Franko Leka, Samuel Troshani and "Unlicensed possession of combat weapons", provided for by article 278/1 of the Criminal Code.  

Franko Leka accused of committing the criminal offenses "Providing conditions and material means to commit murder", committed in special collaboration, that of a structured criminal group to the detriment of citizen Aleksandër Prendi; "Unlicensed possession of combat weapons", committed in special collaboration, that of a structured criminal group, "Structured criminal group", in the form of participation and "Commitment of criminal offenses by a criminal organization and a structured criminal group", provided for by articles 80 and 28/4, 278/1 and 28/4, 333/a/2 and 334/1 of the Criminal Code.

Although it has not been possible to identify all the members of the criminal group that was at the scene, it is proven that the defendant Aleksandër Prendi shot at least two or more people, with the intention of killing them, which remained an attempt.

As a result of the exchange of fire, several armored vehicles and another used vehicle were damaged at the scene. Specifically, an armored Audi A8 with German license plates SËAG276 was damaged, found at the scene in a switched off state, as well as another Audi A8 with license plates AA021RU, owned by citizen Franko Leka, who later fled. This vehicle was seized as material evidence after an examination where gunshot damage was found.

Also, an armored Mercedes Benz S600 with license plates AB857LV was found, which left the scene and was later stopped by the police, under the direction of citizen Safet Bajri.

A BMW with license plate AB216LL, rented by citizen Aleksandër Prendi, who, according to investigative data and phone expertise, is suspected of having been involved in the exchange of fire, was also found damaged at the scene.

Despite the investigations so far, some of the people suspected of participating in the event still remain unidentified and investigations continue to fully document the circumstances and role of each of the people involved./ CNA
