Journalist Klodiana Lala responded through a post on social media to the Minister of Interior, Besfort Lamallari, regarding a reaction to the protesters arrested a few days ago.

Lala writes that it would be more in the public interest for the minister to clarify what happened yesterday with the arrested protesters rather than devoting such a long response to one of her posts.

She further emphasizes that journalism has no duty to defend the police, protesters, or politics, but to raise questions and seek facts.

I am glad that, on a day with so many developments, you found the time to dedicate such a long response to my five-line status. However, it would have been more interesting for the public if the same commitment had been devoted to clarifying what really happened with the detained citizens and the actions of the State Police.

Journalism has no duty to defend the police, the protesters, or politics. It has a duty to ask questions and seek facts. For this reason, I will continue to do my job without being bothered by labels or personal controversies. /CNA
