Fier Prosecutor's Office declares incompetence/ Bankers' file

The Fier Prosecutor's Office has declared incompetence over the Bakers Petroleum file and has sent it to the Special Prosecutor's Office.

According to the prosecution, during the investigations, senior officials were also involved and for this reason, it has sent the file for jurisdiction to SPAK.

Bankers Petroleum's CEO, Chinese Hongping Xiao, and former director Leonidha Çobo are the two accused of a fraudulent VAT scheme and tax evasion. Çobo is also suspected of money laundering.

The Fier Prosecutor's Office has previously listed a series of serious violations for the concession company 'Bankers Petroleum'.

The analytical verification of purchases shows that the purchase invoices do not present sufficient identification data for the purchased goods, or the elements that must be completed either on the invoice or in accompanying documents, on the basis of which the accuracy of the company's declarations can be verified.

Also, for the period 2004-2024, 'Bankers Petroleum' has invoiced 100% "Stand by" service, i.e. not performing any service in function of the activity.

In the previous announcement by the Fier Prosecutor's Office, it was emphasized that for a 10-year period, the concession company declared that it had incurred losses, despite continuing to trade in significant quantities of oil and fuel.

The investigation revealed that 'Bankers Petroleum' had committed fictitious fiscal acts and caused millions of euros in damage to the state budget./ CNA
