Tariffs for the Llogara tunnel approved/ Detailed scheme, here's who pays

The tariffs that will apply for the use of the Llogara tunnel officially come into effect.

The instruction entered into force upon publication in the Official Gazette.

The detailed scheme sets out the fees divided into five different vehicle categories.

Prices range from 100 lek to 5,000 lek and all fees listed include VAT.

Detailed payment scheme for the Llogora tunnel:

The payment scheme is differentiated according to the type and size of the vehicle:

100 Lekë: For motorcycles and similar two-wheeled vehicles.

250 Lekë: For passenger cars and light delivery vehicles (two axles, height up to 1.30 meters).

500 Lekë: For passenger cars with trailers or caravans (more than two axles, height up to 1.30 meters).

1,000 Lekë: For vans, minibuses and medium-sized vehicles (two or more axles, height over 1.30 meters).

5,000 Lekë: For heavy vehicles with three or more axles, such as buses and trucks with multiple trailers (height over 1.30 meters).

Prepaid (subscription) tariffs for regular users will be determined six (6) months after the entry into force of this instruction.

Who is exempt from fees?

The new instruction also defines a list of vehicles and users that are completely exempt from payment, mainly when they are performing a functional duty:

Traffic police, ambulances and fire brigades.

Military and NATO assets.

Vehicles of employees of the ARA or the National Road Operation Authority during duties.

Persons who enjoy the status of disabled, when using vehicles for personal needs.

In the context of safety, the instruction strictly prohibits the use of the Llogora Tunnel by vehicles transporting dangerous goods.

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, the Ministry of Finance, the National Road Operation Authority and the Albanian Road Authority have been tasked with implementing the tariffs and operating the tunnel./ CNA
