Erion Veliaj, with a new criminal offense

Erion Veliaj, with a new criminal offense

The former mayor of Tirana continues to aggravate his criminal positions. Erion Veliaj continuously violates the law, continues to commit criminal offenses, which are punished by the Criminal Code of the Republic of Albania, by the old one, not this young Ulsi, as Mero Baze likes to call him the 'mastermind', the main and strategic mind of Erion Veliaj.

In fact, the former mayor, who is in Durrës prison, is apparently becoming a lawyer, because if we look at his legal actions, it is surprising, as much as you can say, are his Albanian or foreign lawyers so incompetent?

Rather than genuine legal moves to help the former mayor, they appear to be actions taken by a man who knows very little about jurisprudence or is perhaps in the first steps of learning it.

That's why he's probably trying to become a lawyer and advocate himself and is learning, there will be time, since he's in prison, but he's simply and continuously making his positions worse with all his actions.

He reacted on social media two days ago, when he published a material, on October 1, at 12:19, which stated a message from the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj.

The fact is that on October 1, Erion Veliaj was not the mayor of Tirana.

On September 23, Veliaj was dismissed from the Municipal Council, then it was the Council of Ministers that took the final action and put the seal on it, as well as the President, who immediately announced the election date.

So, Erion Veliaj is no longer the mayor of Tirana. Where does the criminal offense and the violation of the law lie according to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Albania?

Article 246 defines the acquisition of a state title or office.

Specifically, this article states that the appropriation of a state title or duty by performing actions that belong to the holder of the title or duty constitutes a criminal offense and is punishable by a fine or imprisonment of up to 2 years.

In this case, Erion Veliaj has "stolen" and committed acts under the name of the Municipality of Tirana, as he is not the Mayor of Tirana, was dismissed on September 25 and no longer exercises this duty according to the law, and he has abusively appropriated the title and state duty.

He has held that title, but he is no longer its holder, therefore, anyone who uses that title, especially in public, with clear messages and stances, bears criminal responsibility.

Perhaps the 13 charges, articles of the Criminal Code, which carry a sentence of 5-10 years in prison or 7-15 years in prison, such as the crime of laundering the proceeds of a criminal offense, make Erioni not notice these minor offenses that carry a fine and up to two years in prison, but in fact this is another criminal offense.

Now let this article of ours serve as advice to the mayor or the lawyers who follow him, not those who do not support him in his madness, but those who make posts on social networks and hold such public positions seeking to show that Erion Veliaj has no connection with the incinerators, but we clarified this issue with the Italian citizen Gabriele Tarroni Longinotti in this article.

In fact, it may not be related to that individual, but that it is related to the people of the incinerators and the Tirana landfill is not in dispute. Furthermore, the posting itself is a violation, which is punishable by a fine and up to two years in prison.

There would be nothing wrong with calling it a post by the former mayor, it's a title that will haunt him forever, whether in prison or out.

But, the moment he posts as mayor, he is breaking the law and committing a criminal offense./ CNA
