Draft resolution on the activity of justice institutions/Opposition attacks SPAK

Representative for legal affairs and DP MP Ivi Kaso at the meeting of the Committees for Legal Affairs where draft resolutions on the activities of justice institutions are being discussed.

Kaso stated that the draft resolution does not reflect any of the concerns raised by the Prosecutor General. The MP said that the data that appeared in the OSCE-ODIHR report should also be discussed.

"It is inexcusable for us not to reflect any of the concerns raised about the performance of the institutions, despite evaluating the work of SPAK, the inadequacies that the ODIHR finds and that they forcefully emphasize in a report of high public value. As a committee, we must address them, discuss them, and present them in a draft resolution so that in the session we can present the best product for approval."

"It is inexcusable to only evaluate achievements and not touch on the problems that the Prosecutor General himself raised, such as the Criminal Code. The Prosecutor openly expressed the need to have more competence," said Kaso.

Kaso also attacked SPAK, stating:

"SPAK is not addressing the increased public concern about its political use as a weapon against the opposition, and this is demonstrated in the treatment and application of security measures differently for opposition figures and differently for any kind of scandal affecting the majority."

It is an important moment that must find its place in the resolution. The resolution on the KPP, whose head is under investigation by SPAK, casts serious doubts on the institution and the Assembly has no qualms about presenting it in the resolution. Public administration, where are the findings of the ODIHR, which shows the politicization of the public administration. It acts as an electoral administration", said Kaso./ CNA
