Opposition protest ends/ Berisha: No police can defeat a rebellious people

The 8th national opposition protest has officially ended. The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, gave a statement to the media from the blue headquarters, where he condemned the actions of the police in today's protest and the blocking of the march. He stated that the march was peaceful, while emphasizing that the uprising will not stop.

"Today the regime showed its true face. It blocked our peaceful march. I guarantee that it will bear all the responsibility it deserves. Friends, there is no police in the world that can defeat an insurgent people. We are in this battle with the ancient motto of the Albanians: let us die, let us live for freedom. Our battle is an uprising against the most dangerous mafia that Albania has known. Nothing discouraged you today, neither the terror of the police, nor the weather. This time will end. That's why we are standing. Absolutely nothing can defeat us. Edi Rama, you have no future, your end is inevitable. Today Edi Rama released Mirlinda from house arrest because she threatened him. We are Albanians who will never agree with these thieves and these criminals. We will win. The battle continues even more undefeated and stronger than ever before," said the chief democrat.

Among other things, he stated that he was aware of the road being blocked by the police on the orders of the Director of the State Police, Skënder Hitë.

"If Skender Hita thinks he set a trap for us, he was wrong. We knew he had blocked the road. We had several roads we could go, but we went there ourselves. We have a peaceful strategy, of invincible people," Berisha said.

Asked whether the next protest will be held before or after the elections for the Democratic Party's chairman, Berisha said that he does not yet have an answer.

"I don't have an answer, but the protest will be powerful. Every protest of ours is related to an anti-Albanian regime. Those who fill the square are true heroes," said the leading democrat. /CNA
