Trial on the merits/The hearing for the "Meta" file is postponed

The trial on the merits of the "CEZ-DIA" affair and lobbying in the US, where the defendants in the case are former President Ilir Meta, former MP Monika Kryemadhi and three others, has been postponed.

The next hearing is scheduled for May 11 at 12:00. After the hearing, Meta's lawyer, Kujtim Cakrani, spoke to the media, saying that it is unacceptable that the trial is not allowed to be followed by cameras and that the leader of the PL is kept in a cage.

"The president should be placed on equal terms to prove his innocence. This court is afraid of evidence, that's why it doesn't broadcast the trial live. What can we do in court, we have these tools? The trials of Fatos Nano or Ramiz Ali, who were convicted of crimes against humanity, have been made open on equal terms. I don't understand the court when the defendant himself expresses his desire and you don't fulfill it, only this court can do it. I will invite internationals to come to the next session, to see the president in the cage", said Cakrani. /CNA
