"We will start recruiting 40 investigators at the BKH"/ Braho: Reduce

The Special Chief Prosecutor, Klodjan Braho, after reporting on the work of SPAK for 2025, answered questions from the members of the KLP.

Asked by member Vatë Staka about the workload, Braho stated that the workload is currently high and could increase further, while describing the number of prosecutors as sufficient.

According to him, one way to facilitate the work of prosecutors is to raise priorities regarding cases and increase the professional level of BKH investigators. The head of SPAK also spoke about the legal changes that need to be made to reduce the workload.

"The workload is high and I think it can increase further. The number of prosecutors, 20, is sufficient. We need to find the most appropriate way to raise priorities regarding cases and we need to increase the professional level of investigators of the National Bureau of Investigation, in order to facilitate the work of prosecutors. This year we will start recruiting 40 more investigators in the BKH and it will be a high number that will affect the reduction of the workload and the increase of the quality of investigations. The competition process for 10 judicial police officers has also been completed and this will contribute to the speed of investigations. We will open another procedure for the judicial police to fill the vacant positions. As for legal changes, I do not see anything that should be changed to reduce the workload. Apart from some types of criminal offenses related to active and passive corruption, I think that the 50,000 lek band should be seen because it is too small and this increases the workload of cases. Even for offenses "The criminal charges related to public procurement are also small in our assessment," Braho said. /CNA
