Elton Alushi resigned/Here's who is expected to run to take over the leadership of the Tirana Police

Today, the director of the Tirana Police, Elton Alushi, resigned from leading the capital's blues. Oliger Torba was appointed in his place.


But who are the names expected to compete to take over the leadership of the Tirana Police?

CNA has learned exclusively that there are three names expected to be in the running to lead the Tirana Police, following the resignation of Elton Alush.

One of the names is Ermal Muça, a career officer who has held a number of leadership positions. Muça has led the police of Vlora, Lezha and was the deputy director of the Tirana Police.

During his time at the Vlora Police Department, Ermal Muça was also decorated for special merits and bravery in the fight against crime and corruption. The decoration was given in January 2024 by the then Minister of Interior, Taulant Balla.

CNA learns that another name expected to compete to be the director of the Tirana Police is Ervin Hodaj, a well-known figure for the Tirana Blues. We recall that Hodaj previously headed the Tirana Police, a position he held until 2017. Hodaj later headed the Shkodra and Fier Police. He has also held positions in the Serious Crimes Directorate of the State Police.

The third name expected to be in the running for Tirana Police, according to CNA sources, is Edvin Ndreu, who currently holds the position of director of the Local Directorate for Border and Migration for the Tirana region. Ndreu has also headed the Lushnja police station and police station 6 in Tirana.

The commonality of the three names expected to run to succeed Elton Alushi is that all three of their names begin with the letter "E". While the difference is that they come from different sectors, one of them comes from Kufiri, Ndreu. While the other two, Hodaj and Muça, have been police chiefs before./CNA
