Details from the minutes/ Here's how Erion Veliaj threatened and insulted

New details have come to light from the second hearing on the merits this Tuesday, where official documents were read that refute the previous claims of the arrested mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, that SPAK documents were handed to him without a record and that police officers were arrogant towards him.

This Tuesday, SPAK prosecutors, Altin Dumani and Ols Dado, read in the session the minutes that were taken when officers from the BKH and the General Directorate of Prisons went to deliver the documents to Erion Veliaj in prison.

According to the minutes kept by Judicial Police officers, the mayor of Tirana was involved in a serious verbal incident with law enforcement officers at the moment the documents were handed to him.

The document signed by the BKH officers and the General Directorate of Prisons states that Veliaj used threatening, insulting and abusive language towards them at the moment of handing over the documents. Among the documented expressions, which are considered threats towards the officials on duty, is the use of the offensive word "pis" addressed to one of the officers, Samet Gurguri.

Also the open threat with the words "I will not forgive you and the prosecutors", as well as the warning that "you will see what I have to do to you", while this is not the first case of threats against Gurguri.

Although Veliaj had previously claimed that the documents were handed to him without a proper record, the evidence administered by SPAK prosecutors, Altin Dumani and Olsi Dado, proves the opposite.

It is reported that Veliaj initially refused to receive the materials in order to cause artificial delays and postpone the court session. Faced with this refusal, officers deposited the documents in the Durres detention center, where Veliaj later withdrew them.

This behavior comes at a time when his lawyers had been handling the evidence and investigation acts for at least 7 months. Erion Veliaj's aggressive reaction is seen as an attempt to act as if he is still in the mayor's office and can do whatever he wants, attempting to intimidate officers who are implementing court orders.

CNA will reveal further details from the session that took place in relation to the minutes./CNA
