Ardit Gjoklaj and Veliaj's tears for his son on the first day of school

The arrested Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, who has been in Durrës detention since February 13, has today made a post on social media stating that he cannot send his son to first grade this year.

Ardit Gjoklaj and Veliaj's tears for his son on the first day of school

This would be touching for anyone, but not for a politician who faces 13 charges for a dozen criminal offenses, all of which have already been made public and all of which have caused damage to every taxpayer.

From the moment Veliaj was elected mayor of Tirana, his career was marked by a series of repressive behaviors against citizens, such as the case of the residents of Unaza e Madhe, "May 5", but what will haunt him as a stain, not only moral, is the incident at the Sharra Landfill where Ardit Gjoklaj was killed.

Ardit Gjoklaj also worked like hundreds of children to provide school money for himself and his brother, because he expected to sit on the school benches in September 2016, but on August 17, he was found dead in a landfill, an event for which no one was punished.

Erion Veliaj may not be able to take his son to school today, but tomorrow or one day he will meet him, regardless of whether the son will be proud or ashamed of his father.

They will meet again and God grant that they will be as close as possible to each other, while Ardit Gjoklaj's parents will never be able to meet their son again, whom they threw a punch at on the eve of the 2016 school year.

The arrested mayor, before making a post, should remember the children he left homeless or who he kicked out of their apartments even at night to then build in those areas with his clients, now under indictment.

Does Veliaj think about the children who beg on the streets and the Tirana Municipality Social Service which is almost non-existent?

Even their parents cannot send them to first grade, kindergarten, or preschool because they have to provide food to survive.

Does the mayor, who has been arrested for corruption on at least 9 occasions, ever think about how many children with immigrant parents don't have their fathers by their side on autumn mornings because they were forced to leave after being extorted by politicians like him?

If there were no corrupt characters like Veliaj and our political class, parents would not emigrate but would be by their children's side to send them to school./ CNA
