VIDEO/ Stadiums for the U-21 European Championship, AFF starts work

The Albanian Football Federation has officially started work on the training grounds that will serve for the finals of the 2027 European U-21 Championship, a tournament that will take place in Albania.

This project represents another important step in the infrastructural preparations for the organization of one of the largest sporting events that our country will welcome.

The first field where interventions have begun is the “Niko Dovana” stadium in Durrës, where specialized works are being carried out to improve the carpet, drainage system and general infrastructure conditions, in accordance with the standards required by UEFA. The works at this facility are expected to last about a week.

Interventions will gradually continue in other training grounds and sports complexes in the country, including the fields near the Navy, the "Skënder Halili" complex, the "House of Football", the Egnatia Stadium, the sports complex in Elbasan, as well as other facilities that will be part of the organizational map of the UEFA U-21 EURO 2027.

Through this project, the Albanian Football Association aims not only to meet the organizational criteria for the development of the European U-21 Championship, but also to leave an important infrastructural legacy for Albanian football. Investments in training grounds and stadiums will directly impact the improvement of conditions for clubs, academies and national teams across the country.

The process of reconstruction and preparation of the grounds will continue according to plan until the end of June 2026, with the aim of ensuring that each facility meets the highest technical and organizational standards to guarantee a dignified organization of the UEFA U-21 EURO 2027.
