Sevilla to let Januzaj go for free, but there's a problem

Sevilla are looking to resolve the situation of Adnan Januzaj, who has failed to make a mark since 2022. The Belgium international wants to leave this summer and has a preliminary agreement with Anderlecht, but wants to leave as a free agent.

The Spanish club is willing to release him from his contract to avoid paying the high salary, but the problem lies in the 5 million euros gross that Januzaj still owes them.

The player has no intention of forgiving this amount, which complicates the process. Sevilla do not want to repeat the situation of last season, when they paid a large part of his salary during his loan to Las Palmas.

The club also does not see him as suitable for the first team after two years without convincing performances. Anderlecht remain interested, but the transfer is dependent on reaching an economic agreement.
