Negative results? Manchester United earn more financially

Manchester United recorded a record revenue of £666.5m last year, despite poor results and a 15th place finish in the Premier League, their worst since the 1973-74 season.

The signing of a five-year deal with sponsor Snapdragon and record matchday revenue of £160.3 million were crucial to this balance.

Commercial revenue reached £333.3m, putting United back above Liverpool in this respect. Net loss fell to £33m, a 70% reduction on the previous year.

Costs have been significantly reduced through staff cuts and salary cuts, while the club has had to deal with increased expenses for coach departures.

Long-term debt remains at £471.9m, while short-term borrowings have increased significantly. Despite the sporting crisis and the lack of European competition, United predicts stable income until 2026.
