Midfielder honors Napoli, champions return to victory

Napoli returned to success in Serie A, after narrowly defeating Sassuolo at home in the 21st week's duel.

This triumph comes after three consecutive draws in the championship, which had caused Antonio Conte's team to lose ground in the race for the championship title.

The match started in the best way for the home team, who took the lead in the 7th minute. Stanislav Lobotka took advantage of a ball left in the area and with a volley with his right foot sent the ball into the net, with the help of a slight deflection.

After the goal, Sassuolo reacted positively and tried to organize the game in the attacking phase. Napoli came close to a second goal with a header from Di Lorenzo, while on the other hand, the visitors threatened an equalizer at the end of the first half, when Vranks deflected a ball with his head that ended very close to the fatal line, but without crossing it.

In the second half, Sassuolo appeared more demanding in search of an equalizer, forcing goalkeeper Milinkovi?-Savic to intervene after a shot by Lipan. After this incident, the pace of the game dropped and both teams struggled to create clear scoring chances, with the game moving mainly to the midfield.

In the final minutes, a miscued pass from goalkeeper Arijanet Muric was almost punished by McTominay, who tried from distance, but the ball ended up wide. This episode did not change the course of the match, as Napoli managed to hold on to the lead until the final whistle.

With this victory, Napoli records its seventh consecutive success against Sassuolo and remains in third place in the standings, six points behind leading Inter.

Meanwhile, Sassuolo continues a negative streak of seven games without a win in the championship, remaining in the middle of the table, still at a safe distance from the relegation zone, but with increasing pressure from the chasing teams.
