City "burns" the competition, the transfer of the defender is ready

Manchester City have advanced in the race to sign Marc Guehi during the winter transfer window.

The English club have presented a favourable offer for the Crystal Palace captain, to beat off interest from Bayern Munich and Liverpool.

Guehi is in the final six months of his contract and could leave on a free transfer in the summer. City are keen to sign him now, due to injury problems in the defence.

Ruben Dias, Josko Guardiola and John Stones are all currently out with injuries. Stones' contract expires in the summer and his renewal remains uncertain.

City see Guehi as an immediate and viable solution. A bid of £30-40m could convince Crystal Palace to sell in January.
