Champions League, supercomputer predicts English winners

The 2025-2026 Champions League season kicks off next week and the participating teams are gearing up for the most prestigious competition in European football. A few days before the start, the first predictions from Opta's supercomputer have been released.

After 10,000 simulations, Liverpool are seen as the main favourites with a 20.4% chance of winning the trophy. Arsenal are second with 16%, while reigning champions PSG are third with 12.4%. Manchester City and Barcelona share fourth and fifth place with 8.4% each.

Chelsea are seventh, ahead of Real Madrid, while Bayern, Inter and Newcastle complete the Top 10. Italian clubs are generally rated as having minimal chances of success, with Inter having 3%, Napoli 1.4%, and Juventus and Atalanta only 0.6% each.
