124 new resident doctors sign contract with the Ministry of Health

24 doctors who will begin their 3-year specialization in medicine this year have signed a contract today with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection to provide health services in various specialties.

During the ceremony held at the "Mother Teresa" University Hospital Center, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Albana Koçiu, emphasized that this year 253 doctors will begin their long-term specialization in medicine, of which 124 will sign a contract with the Ministry of Health, Social Affairs and Health.

The Minister of Health also focused on the transformation of health infrastructure and investments in technology equipment, which she said have improved and increased services for citizens, but also created conditions for health staff.

"I am sure that wherever you are received, but also after you finish this 3-year period, you will find a completely renovated hospital infrastructure. All of you will be witnesses of the transformations that the "Mother Teresa" University Hospital Center is undergoing and implementing day by day", said the Minister of Health.

Specialist doctors with a contract with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection for four years during their training will receive 80% of the salary of a specialist doctor, and 100% for those who specialize in the priority branches of "family medicine" and emergency medicine."

They have chosen to specialize in various fields of medicine, such as pediatrics, imaging, anesthesia-resuscitation, cardiology, internists, general surgery, pulmonology, infectious diseases, obstetrics-gynecology, diagnostic imaging, and family medicine.

Since 2014, when specializations in medicine were reopened, the total number of admission quotas for specialist doctors has been around 2,900, of which 1,151 doctors have followed the specialization as a quota covered by the Ministry of Health./ CNA
