In the framework of the 94th anniversary of the birth of the great poet and writer Dritëro Agolli, the Devoll Municipality held a cultural activity at the school of the village of Menkulas, his birthplace. This day, now turned into a tradition, brought together students, teachers, representatives of local government, poetry lovers and residents of the area, who through verses, songs and dances remembered the figure of the man who, with his pen, became the voice of Devoll and all of Albania.

The atmosphere in the Menkulasi schoolyard was filled with emotion. The students performed famous poems by Dritëroi, songs inspired by his creativity, as well as folk dances that reflected the spirit of the Devoll region. This activity was organized by the Cultural Center of the Devoll Municipality in cooperation with the schools of the area, within the framework of the Month of Literature, giving a special meaning to this anniversary.

In his speech, the Mayor of Devoll, Eduard Duro, said that this day has become a symbol for the entire province, because Dritëro Agolli is not only a personality of Albanian letters, but also a figure that identifies Devoll at the national and international level. He added that the annual tradition of this commemoration is a way to convey to the younger generations the values ??that Dritëro gave to Albanian culture.

"Like every October 13, the Devoll Municipality organizes a cultural activity in the framework of the birthday of the great poet and writer of Devoll, Dritëro Agolli. Not only of Devoll, but of all of Albania and the entire nation. It is an activity organized by the Cultural Center of the Devoll Municipality, in cooperation with all the schools of this municipality. It is the day that we have as a holiday of this region, the holiday of the Devoll area, as he is not only the luminary of Albanian letters, but also the one who identifies us on a national and international level", said Duro.

Among the guests was Endri Fifo, a friend of Dritëroi, who remembered the poet as a simple, wise and humorous man, who loved the people and sang about life with soul and love. He described Agolli as a “living archive of Albanian folklore”, who knew the songs of every region and who, through poetic words, united the spirit of the city with that of the village.

"Today is a significant day for the Devoll region and for all of Albania, because it is the birthday of the great Dritëro Agolli, the man of letters, the Devoll of song, dance, philosopher of folk poetry and civic lyric poetry. Dritëro remains one of the most prominent personalities of Albanian literature, because throughout his history, his soul has sung to his people, our beloved Devoll. I was lucky enough to meet Dritëro and communicate in the field of folklore, because Dritëroi was a living archive of Albanian folklore, knowing the songs not only of Devoll, but of all Albanian regions," said Fifo.

The President of the "Devolli" Association, Guri Seferi, spoke about the progress of the works on the Dritëro Agolli house-museum, which is being built in Menkulas.

According to him, the building has already been erected and it is expected that for the 95th anniversary of the poet's birth, next year, the museum will open its doors to visitors. This initiative will be an important cultural asset not only for Devolli, but for the entire Albanian nation, preserving the memory and legacy of a figure who remains alive in the national consciousness.

"Today, not only me as the president of the 'Devolli' Association, but also all the members of the association, the entire province of Devolli and the entire Albanian nation are happy. Today we are actually at the moment when the building for the Dritëro Agolli museum has been erected like a carbine and on the 95th anniversary that we will mark next year, we will all be together to visit the house-museum. That house will have great, added value for the province and the Albanian nation. In that house, Dritëro will be experienced, because for us he is alive and among us, giving us orientations. Today, on this 94th anniversary of his birthday, which coincides with the month of Literature, we have started activities with book promotions and the first sight we have is Dritëro Agolli", said Seferi.
