City cleaning/ Concern about dumping of inert and inorganic waste in containers

The cleaning service company in Shkodra warns of "zero tolerance" towards the city's polluters.

In just one week, the Municipal Police have monitored and fined over 20 cases of illegal waste disposal, punishing those who do not respect the rules of cleaning and waste management.

Altin Shabaj, Director of the Cleaning and Greening Directorate, stated that every street, neighborhood and collection point is under constant monitoring.

According to him, concrete measures have been taken against violators, while he called on citizens not to throw wood, furniture or household items in regular bins, as they have no place in the city, according to the municipal waste management regulation.

" We are currently identifying them and in cooperation with the municipal police we are fining them. The goal is not to fine citizens but to raise awareness so that they only send organic waste to designated points and not green waste or household furniture. As for the regulation, they can only be deposited in the Bushati landfill by the citizens themselves ," said Shabaj.

 

Meanwhile, Henri Faci, manager of the company that provides cleaning services in the city of Shkodra, spoke about managing cleaning intervals and identifying areas with recurring problems. He emphasized that the service is being carefully monitored, but the cooperation and awareness of citizens remain crucial to maintaining common cleanliness.

" The cleaning process in Shkodra operates on a schedule with 2 vehicles working during the day and 4 vehicles at night. We are ready to keep this city as clean as possible, but the problem remains the dumping of waste from businesses and the blockage of streets, especially at night. We are only obliged to clean the containers from urban waste, that is, household waste. Unfortunately, green waste, sofas, wood, etc. are also dumped there ," said Faci.
