University of Shkodra amidst garbage/ Municipality and Rectorate launch cleaning

An unsuitable reality for an institution of knowledge, which will now belong to the past. Abandoned ironworks and buildings, which for years had occupied the premises of the University of Shkodra, taking away its functionality and dignity, will finally be removed.

On the eve of the start of the new academic year, the Mayor of Shkodra, Benet Beci, and the Rector of the University, Tonin Gjuraj, have undertaken a concrete plan to clean and organize these spaces, with the aim of transforming them into functional environments for study, academic activities, and the daily life of students.

"Imagine coming to the Faculty and finding a car graveyard here too, a car graveyard inside the faculty, a car graveyard in the middle of the city, so the whole city is covered with walls, bars, car graveyards. So, the reason we came is to see money through investments, to clean the place from these scumbags that are in the University. I had not thought that the University would be full of scumbags," said Beci.

This process is expected to restore normality to one of the most important institutions of higher education in the country, giving not only the University, but also the city of Shkodra a dignified space, in the function of knowledge and development.

The intervention is part of the Municipality's commitment to support the University and transform it into a modern study center, reflecting its historical and academic role in the formation of new generations./CNA
