Beekeeper from the village of Shelqet/ Working as a carpenter gave him a passion for beekeeping

Working as a carpenter would connect him even more with beekeeping. The story of Gac Gjergji from Shelqeti i Vau i Dejës remains special. 8 years ago in his workshop he made some beehives for a relative, and in the absence of work rights he was given a beehive with bees. This was the point where Gac began his unceasing passion for raising bees.

" The desire to deal with bees has always been there. The reason was a cousin of mine who came and made 25 beehives for me since I have a workshop and I also work as a carpenter. I prepared it and gave it to him and at dinner after I finished the work he asked me how much the work would cost? Considering the sayings of old beekeepers that bees are a sacred thing, I did not take any money from him. My cousin came and brought the first hive, it was July 1, 20217 and from there the activity and business with bees began for me. The amount entered my blood and from the great desire to deal with bees I started adding them and from one I went to 5 hives the first year. In the spring of 2018 I added them and bought 5 more hives, then to 15 and from that day to today I have constantly added them and today I have reached 110 beehives. Considering that bees require a special treatment especially in some periods I decided to plant rapeseed, this for the first time in Shkodra. I planted 8 dunyams of rapeseed and they have given great development to the bees as food and a great pleasure considering all that yellow flower that is rapeseed and in the spring when the bees really needed pollen, they took a very big leap and developed immensely ", says the beekeeper.

Even more special is the plant that Gaci feeds his bees with. For years, he has decided to plant "rapeseed", a plant that contains the pollen that bees need.

“Kolza është një bimë që në kohën e kooperativave bujqësore është mbjellë shumë për blegtorinë, për lopët dhe kositetdy herë në vit dhe mbillet në shtator-tetor dhe në shkurt-mars. Kolza jep një masë të njomë jashtëzakonisht të madhe dhe në kohën e lulzimit ka polen shumë. Sidomos për bletën sepse bleta ka nevojë shumë për polen, kolza i jep bletëve polen pa masë dhe bën zhvillimin e gjeneratës së re, shërben shumë për zogjtë e bletës. Unë mbolla 8 dynym dhe përveç zhvillimit që ka marrë bleta kam marrë edhe më shumë mjaltë prej tyre. Arrin në 2 deri 2.5 kuintal mjaltë për hektarë kolza. Këtu tek ne nuk e përdor kush dhe unë përmes internetit e mbolla kolzën dhe vitin që vjen mendoj që të bëj një hektar e gjysëm. Kolza është një ushqim i posaçëm për bletën dhe është shumë e nevojshme në kohën e pranverës që është koha e shtimit të bletës. Mund të mbillet edhe më vonë, korrik-gusht kohë kur bie poleni, në atë periudhë kolza e ndihmon shumë bletën.Unë ngaqë merrem shumë me internet e pashë se njëri shiste farën e kolzës, ishte nga jugu ai dhe pasi i bëra një kërkesë ma solli me postë dhe e mbolla dhe sinqerisht është diçka shumë e mirë. Askush nuk mund ta imagjinojë punën që bën bleta në atë periudhë në bimën e kolzës. Vitin e kaluar ka patur më pak prodhim mjalti ndërsa këtë vit është me të vërtetë prodhim i kënaqshëm dhe shpresoj që 20 kg mjaltë për kosherë këtë vit besoj e marr. Ende nuk është marrë mjalti i gështenjës por shihet që ka rendiment të mirë. Në pranverë kam marrë 3 kg për koshere dhe tani ta shohim. Mjalti i kësaj lule është i paparë dhe unë nuk kam ngrënë ndonjëherë këtë lloj mjalti. Ka një shije shumë të mirë dhe aromë të mirë. Kolza një muaj është për ka vlera të mëdha dhe lum ai që ja di vlerat kolzës për ta mbjellë. Unë e provova për herë të parë dhe nuk i ndahem më pavarësisht se aty shkojnë edhe bletët e të tjerëve se nuk janë vetëm të mijat por kam parë një rezultat shumë të mirë tek kolza. Pjesa tjetër e ushqimit ka bimë pafund këtu në zonën tonë, pemë frutore dhe nga më të ndryshmet”, thotë Gaci.

 

Një thënie e vjetër thotë se po u zhduk bleta, pas 4 viteve zhduket edhe njerëzimi. Ndaj Gaci nuk e sheh si vështirësi punën me to, por pasion e tashmë edhe biznes. Ndonëse vitet e fundit edhe te bletët janë shtuar sëmundjet.

An old saying says that if the bee disappears, after 4 years humanity will disappear too, and another is that in this world only humans and bees die, no animal or insect or other living thing dies except the bee. Also, according to statistics in the world, 60% of humanity's needs are through natural honey and then 40% from artificial honey. In the world, it is not possible to produce honey for all human needs, so the state's hand is needed to have subsidies and other treatments. The state should not ban bees because someone comes out there and says that bees should not be left in the pasture. It is something that should not exist because 1 in three spoons of food comes from bees, from pollination and the needs of plants that have bees. Subsidies in Albania for bees are "It's ridiculous that I can't even transport them because I move them 4-5 times a year. I start in February when I take them to Mirdita, then in the spring, to chestnut, to thorn and so on. The subsidies are ridiculous because 10 thousand lek for a beehive is very little. Last year there was, while this year is good and there are no diseases, although this also depends on how people treat them. There are also cases where they have two or three beehives and they don't care, they don't care and this is a risk for those who have a lot of bees because they get infected, but this year there is more stabilization ," says Gaci.

 

When asked why we should select the honey of his bees, he replies that his family also consumes the honey he sells.

" My guarantee is that where my family eats honey, I sell that honey. So I have stainless steel containers and where I eat, that's where I take it to sell, which means that the guarantee of that honey is 100%. I know that I can also divide it for the family and for trade, but no, God forbid. Honey should be guaranteed, both for me and for my clients. A person should not interfere with honey after the bees produce it ," says the beekeeper.

 

Gaci promises that as long as he is healthy, he will continue to deal with bees, as the work has become a passion that is cultivated year after year./ CNA
